According to the data about Tanzania's birth and death rates, the country is most likely in stage 2 of the Demographic Transition Model. The birth rate had recently increased very rapidly and it doesn't look as if it will decrease quickly and the death rate had just recently decreased a lot and seems to continue decreasing but more slowly than between 2012 and 2013. Since many workers in Tanzania work in agriculture, many adults often need children to help them do chores around the house or even out in the field so that is most likely why the birth rate is pretty high.

![Picture](/uploads/9/2/3/6/92365300/published/amazin-race_3.png?250)
*This will be a Fencing competition (with hay as swords) that will take place in the summer.
*This will be a roadblock since only one member of each team (of ten) will fence at one time with a member of another team.
~ Step 1: In late June, all groups from Central and Southern Africa who wish to participate in the competition will travel to the city of Dar es Salaam (on the East Coast of Tanzania (along the Indian Ocean)) at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (where everyone from every team will be checked in).
~ Step 2: The day after competition Check-In, all teams will head to the Tanganyika Packers Sport Ground in town.
~ Step 3: At about 11 A.M., every individual member of every team will head East, with 1 bucket that will be provided to him/her, a couple blocks to the Indian Ocean to collect water (so that no one gets dehydrated during the competition). Once everyone has his/her bucket filled with water, everyone will head back to the Sport Ground (everyone should be at the ground no later than 12 P.M.).
~ Step 4: From 12:30 P.M. to 3 P.M., every individual member of each team will compete with other individuals by age (not gender) out of 5 rounds and because this will also be like one tournament, whoever wins the first round moves onto the second round and whoever loses (at all) is out for the rest of the competition.
-Note: There will be a judge to place an individual with another after each level that the individual won.
~ Step 5: Once the competition is finished and everyone knows who the finalists are (of every age), each finalist will go to the United African University of Tanzania to receive their medals.

*Author: Sophie Tremblay
*Date: January 15th, 2017

*Many Tanzanian elephants are poached every year: mainly for their tusks. Elephants in Africa are endangered and conservation actions must be taken immediately. The Chinese government and Tanzanian government are partnering together to ban poaching and to protect elephants. By doing so, the Chinese government claimed that China's ivory market will be banned by the end of 2017. The march by citizens that is promoting elephant conservation is beginning to be recognized by celebrities and more people around the world are beginning to become more aware of the issue.
*I believe it is super important for poaching of any kind to be banned and for markets to stop demanding for resources that require animals to be killed. Many animals around the world really need conservation actions being handled so that they are protected but elephants have always been poached past the limit and I'm glad to see that more governments are getting involved to help wildlife be more conserved.
*This affects the culture in Tanzania because since the "state" is a developing country, the use of animals for transportation or even to provide humanitarian necessities in nature is required for daily life. Animals can provide food for people, some kind of drink that could prevent disease or even cure or heal a disease, and they can also eat bacteria that is good for them but not for humans. Without animals, Tanzanian people may not get good access to food or even sanitation.

Urban Geography
*Largest cities in Tanzania:
1. Dar es Salaam
2. Mwana
3. Arusha
4. Dodoma
5. Mbeya
*Population of Dar es Salaam: 4,364,541 inhabitants.
*Rank Size Rule (Estimated City Populations):
~ Mwana
+ 4,364,541/2 => 2,182,270 people.
~ Arusha
+ 4,364,541/3 => 1,545,847 people.
~ Dodoma
+ 4,364,541/4 => 1,091,135 people.
~ Mbeya
+ 4,364,541/5 => 872,908 people.
*Actual City Populations:
~ Mwana => 706,543 inhabitants.
~ Arusha => 416,442 inhabitants.
~ Dodoma => 410,956 inhabitants.
~ Mbeya => 385,279 inhabitants.
*The Rank-Size Rule for Tanzania is completely invalid. Mwana, Arusha, Dodoma, and Mbeya are all (individually) less than 1/5th the population size of Dar es Salaam. The main reason for this is probably because not only is Dar es Salaam the capital of Tanzania, but the city is a huge economic and trading area for both the country and all of Africa.
*Population of Tanzania: 52,482,726 people.
*Population Density: 55.40 people/Square Land Area.
